"Central American termites. Seriously. I used to live in Honduras and took lots of trips to the rain forests along the north coast. People who lived up there showed me a traditional way to repel insects:-Find a termite nest. They're a little above head level in the trees and can get pretty huge.
-Hack away at a small part of the nest with a machete, exposing the worker termites inside.
-Place your hand over the area you hacked away. Let the termites crawl all over your hand.
-If you're hungry, eat a few. They taste like carrots (I can vouch for this).
-Smash the termites between your hands until you have a handful of fragrant, slightly sticky termite goop.
-Rub the termite goop on your arms, neck and face. It's thin and clear, so it won't show on the skin.
-Don't worry about the termites. They'll repair the damage and replace the workers within a week or so."
