<p>The southern banded snake eagle hails from Somalia to northeastern Kwazulu-Natal, inland along the Save River, on into south eastern Zimbabwe. They prefer evergreen coastal forests, thick inland forests near wetlands, and can sometimes be seen in open woodland habitats.
