<p>The common brushtail possum is the 2nd largest of the Australasian possums. They are native to Australia and invasive in New Zealand because they are known for rapidly destroying native forests via heavy <a class="glossaryLink"  aria-describedby="tt"  data-cmtooltip="&#60;div class=glossaryItemTitle&#62;browsing&#60;/div&#62;&#60;div class=glossaryItemBody&#62;Browsing is the feeding on leaves which are on bushes, shrubs, and trees that are higher up rather than eating the grass and plants found on the ground.&#60;/div&#62;"  href="https://critter.science/glossary/browsing/"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{"attribute":"data-cmtooltip", "format":"html"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>browsing</a>, they prey on native bird eggs and chicks, and they also spread bovine tuberculosis to farm [&#8230;]</p>
